Louisville metal Caldera has changed its name to Kentucky Death Wish. Check the myspace page at www.myspace.com/calderamuzik. Seventies-era Louisville band Leslie’s Motel’s Dirty Sheets recording got a first-time release on March 13 as part of Gear Fab Records’ “Louisville Music Series.” Jonathan Ashley has the whole story is over at LEO. Dan Seals, a.k.a. England Dan in England Dan and John Ford Coley died on March 25 of complications from cancer at age 61. He had been battling lymphoma since April 2007. The 8th Annual Forecastle Fest headliners have been announced: Widespread Panic, The Black Crowes, The Black Keys and The Avett Brothers will all appear at the festival, set for July 10 – 12 at the Riverfront Belvedere in downtown Louisville. An additional six-five bands and DJs will be announced at a later date. [...] The word is spreading rapidly among Louisville musicians that the corporation that owns LEO has decided to drop the weekly Plugged In listing of live music in favor of the Picks of the Week, since not enough club owners were advertising to justify keeping the section. Musicians, of course, are horrified and unhappy.
