Over at the steadily shrinking LEO, Mat Herron has a long story on Louisvillian Ken Flaherty Jr’s part in curating and reissuing music by West Virginian Polk Miller and his band, The Old South Quarette. Nathan Salsburg reviews the resulting release. Herron also plugs Alanna Fugate’s latest release, Imaginary Boats & the Several [...] Lovers of jazz seem to wind in running venues or is it the other way ’round? In any case, J. L. Puckett reports that Jockamo’s Pizza Pub, at the corner of Goss Avenue and Krieger Street, will have an all-star jazz band, featuring guitarist Craig Wagner, saxophonist Jacob Duncan, organist Todd Hildreth and [...] In the wake of the New Yorker’s long story on Will Oldham, the C-J’s music writer, J. L. Puckett interviewed the manager of Joe’s Palm ROom, which was mentioned in the article. I confess that I didn’t get up to New York City on New Year’s Eve for My Morning Jacket at Madison Square Garden – I had “other priorities,” like not enough time or money.
