Over at LEO, Mat Herron drew the short straw to interview Patrick Hallahan of My Morning Jacket, which will be playing the Waterfront on August 16.
Over the last several months, there has been considerable discussion in the music scene about the “Battle of the Bands” shows put on at Headliners by a company calling itself, variously, Jam Solid or Gorilla Productions. The promotion involves getting bands to sell tickets, with the ‘headlining’ band being the one that sells the most tickets, with the announced prizes apparently not actually what they seem and/or not awarded, although this matter has not been clearly investigated. The firm(s) are located in Cleveland or a suburb of Cleveland and are not particularly inclined to return phone calls. A more complete discussion of this is available at the 502Scene board.

Tickets for the LRSFest, set for September 14 on the Waterfront, can be bought online at the WLRS website for $10 from July 7 through July 11, if you are a WLRS.com Freeloader. Otherwise, the general public can buy tickets online for $15 July 14 through 18. Sales at the ticket locations begin on July 19, when you can buy tickets for $25. Day of show tickets are $35, so buy early if you are planning to attend.
The LRSFest lineup is this: Bret Michaels, Theory of a Deadman, Trapt, Saving Abel, Bobaflex, Foundation and Intheclear.
Club Villa Montana at Theatre Square on Fourth St. may lose its liquor license, according to an article in last Wednesday’s LEO. The club has several alcohol-related infractions, as well as two shootings in the last fifteen months.
