Live Nation Summer Tour List Due Out Monday

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

If you think that a.) Louisville doesn’t get enough live music or b.) there’s too much live music in Louisville, then Monday’s announcement of Live Nation’s tour schedule will no doubt disappoint you. According to Billboard, Live Nation will have an extensive roster of major acts on the road this summer, performing in Live Nation’s many venues. For Louisville, that would be the Louisville Palace, which cannot handle the larger shows. Due to the excessive number of bands making their way into Louisville, any additional demand on the rather limited audience in Derby City will simply mean less revenue for all. Don’t expect that the competition will mean that ticket prices will fall; quite the contrary will be true. As major acts seek to replace falling record revenues, ticket prices will rise until they no longer sell enough to make it worth doing. That could take a while.
