A Different Take on the Jay-Z Deal with Live Nation
The noted berzerker Bob Lefsetz has an entirely sane, businesslike take on the recent signing of Jay-Z to Live Nation’s roster, where he joins Madonna and U2. You can read Lefsetz’ rant but the executive summary is that the deal is make Live Nation look like the only game in town, thereby running up their stock value. It has nothing to do with presenting music, particularly not new music. It’s all about the rapidly declining dollar.
