Wal-Mart has been pressuring major labels for reductions in wholesale costs for CDs, with apparent success, according to digitalmusicnews.com. Fresh titles from Michael Buble, Josh Groban and Blake Shelton are currently available on walmart.com for $5, and other titles are available sub-$10.

2008 Virgin Mobile Festival at Pimlico Has Something-For-All Lineup

The 2008 Virgin Mobile Festival, set for August 9 and 10 at Pimlico Racetrack in Baltimore, has a lineup with something for everyone, including oldsters: Chuck Berry, by God, is on the list, along with Foo Fighters, Jack Johnson, Nine Inch Nails, Kanye West and Stone Temple Pilots; Bob Dylan, Wilco, The Offspring, Iggy Pop & The Stooges and more and more. Might be worth a road trip.

  • Waterfront Wednesday Review

    A musician friend dropped into the Bluegrass Brewing Company for the Wednesday night jam session after stopping off at the Waterfront Wednesday show, featuring The Whigs, Wild Sweet Orange and Griffin House. We asked him about the show and he said that he didn’t really have much time to check out the bands, as he kept running into people he knew and talking to them instead. Apparently, Nick at the Backseat Sandbar had similar thoughts.
