U2 Signs Deal with Live Nation

Not a Full 360

U2 has reached “an agreement in principle” for a 12-year global relationship with Live Nation. U2 and Live Nation Artists will collaborate on touring, merchandising, and the band’s website, but the band’s relationship with Universal Music for recording and publishing is not affected by the deal, making it not a 360 deal similar to the one signed by Madonna with Live Nation. Sean Levert, 39, Dies

R&B singer Sean Levert, the son of O’Jays singer Eddie Levert and the brother of late R&B icon Gerald Levert,collapsed in a Cleveland jail where he was serving time for failing to pay child support. He later died at the hospital. United Press International has more.

Thunderdome Reopening

According to post on the 502 Scene board, the Thunderdome, 936 Baxter (behind Coconuts) will reopen on April 12 with a four-band show featuring The Guttersluts, Bloody Knuckles Crew, Sowing Discord and Human. Showtime will be after the “Thunder Over Louisville” show. It is to hoped that the acoustics are improved over the previous incarnation, when it was simply a large, concrete pit with inadequate seating.

Bugs Bunny and the Orchestra

Andrew Adler at the C-J has a nice piece on the upcoming Louisville Orchestra’s “Bugs Bunny on Broadway,” scheduled for April 5 at the Louisville Palace. Adler seems to reveal that he’s not all deadly serious about his arts: he’s familiar with and complimentary about the Warner Bros. cartoons featuring Bugs Bunny, particularly “What’s Opera, Doc?,” which he asserts is “among the truest examples of high Western art.” I absolutely agree with him about that.

KT Tunstall at the Brown
