Searcy’s “I Believe”

Word that Peter Searcy’s song “I Believe” would be featured on Oprah’s “Big Give” program has been circulating for a couple of weeks now. J. L. Puckett at the C-J has a big write-up. The tune is also featured in NBC’s commercials for “LIpstick Jungle,” which should help Searcy’s bank account some. We’re all pleased to see him score a couple of more successes, given how tough the music business is these days.

My Morning Jacket Tune on Heroes Soundtrack

My Morning Jacket will have a tune on the soon-to-release soundtrack from the TV superhero show, “Heroes.” “Chills” makes the cut along with tunes from Wilco, Panic At The Disco, BOb Dylan, David Bowie and more, according to Billboard.com. Details here.

Elvis Costello At the Palace May 7

Stephen Garrett - “Static” Dies At 32

Louisville hip-hop artist Static, born Stephen Garrett, died yesterday, possibly of a brain aneurism. His age was reproted variously at 31, 32 or 33. A member of the R&B group Playa, he was known for his songwriting. Garrett had worked with Aaliyah, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z and Ginuwine, among others. WHAS TV has more.
