Your faithful webmanager has been working weekends on the several ‘issues’ that have presented themselves. Most of them have been fixed. Yea! Ditto with some email problems.

Now we can get back to serving up the latest Louisville music news.

In case you’ve noticed that the site now has www.louisvillemusicnews.net as a URL, it’s because the www.louisvillemusic.net site came up suspended - for spam, their Live Chat agent said. (???) Curiouser and curiouser, as Alice said. While I deal with that matter (somehow), this site is nearly exactly the same as the other, though there may be an image file or two that’s incorrectly referenced.

In any case, I appreciate your patience with what to me has been an intolerable number of issues with hosting services.

Late Update: the support desk at www.louisvillemusic.net blamed the suspension on ‘mysql overuse.’? Easy to fix that: www.louisvillemusic.net is now redirected to www.louisvillemusicnews.net. Bother

A kind user called to let us know that the Classified Ad section still wasn’t running right. Another case of server-shifting problems - a slightly later version of the database application in this case - but it seems to be all fixed. Thanks to the notification and I guess we should add a “Bug button.” It’ll go on the list.

Assuming you’ve gotten here, you have seen the newly revised Louisville Music News website. At the moment, it does pretty much everything that the old site plus one or two new-ish items, mostly the breakouts by music genre pages. The introduction of the site was instituted a bit earlier than we planned due to technical issues with our old hosting service, specifically, a change involving a new pipeline (T1 Line) that didn’t come through as planned, resulting in a very slow loading site. Then, when the T1 line was finally installed, the whole site went down while the host got the passwords and data all straightened out.

Anyway, we hope you like it: comments can be made by clicking on the ‘Contact Us’ menu button and sending an email to me, the Editor.

Look for more changes - introduced gradually - over the next few months.
